cloth 和 clothes 不是单复数关系

cloth 和 clothes 经常被搞混。有人以为 cloth 是单数、clothes 是复数，其实没这么简单。

cloth 指布料时通常不可数，三块布可以说 3 pieces of cloth；指用于清洁等用途的一块布时可以数，复数是 cloths。

clothes 永远这么拼，没有单数。我们说 wear clothes、have clothes。如果一定要强调单件，可以说 one item of clothing。

to clothe 是动词，所以也可以说 he clothes the poor。听起来有点怪，但能说明 clothes 有时是动词，不只是名词。
